We are only one week into summer, and already our community has witnessed incidents involving youth fighting, gun violence, serious car accidents, and young people struggling with limited access to resources, mentorship, and employment opportunities.

These are not just headlines—they are warning signs that many of our young people are facing challenges that deserve our attention, support, and action.

That is why events like The Courage Code: Youth Voices on Gun Violence & Leadership are so important.

Our youth are not just part of the conversation—they are the solution. They have firsthand experiences, powerful insights, and innovative ideas about what is happening in our schools, neighborhoods, and communities. When we create safe spaces for young people to speak, we empower them to become leaders, advocates, and changemakers.

This event is an opportunity for youth to:
✅ Share their experiences and concerns
✅ Discuss the impact of gun violence and community safety
✅ Explore what leadership means to them
✅ Offer solutions and visions for positive change
✅ Help adults better understand what support they truly need

If we want to reduce violence, increase opportunities, and build stronger communities, we must start by listening to the voices of those most affected.

📅 June 20, 2026 (11am-2pm)

Today’s youth are navigating pressures that can feel overwhelming and isolating. From difficult family dynamics and the desire to fit in, to cyberbullying, peer pressure, and the constant influence of social media, many young people are carrying challenges that often go unseen or misunderstood. While every generation has faced pressure in different ways, the emotional and mental impact on youth today is happening faster, louder, and more publicly than ever before.

That’s why events like The Courage Code: Teens Taking Control are so important.

This event is designed to create a safe, encouraging, and supportive environment where youth can learn how to respond to online and real-life pressures with confidence and resilience. Teens will have the opportunity to hear conversations centered around mental health awareness, cyberbullying prevention, self-confidence, and accessing healthy support systems and resources.

-Mental health awareness and advocacy
-Learning how to handle cyberbullying
-Building confidence and healthy coping skills
-Connecting youth and families to community resources
-Food, raffles, giveaways, and free resources

A welcoming space for both youth and parents
The event will take place:

📅 May 16th
🕚 11 AM – 2 PM
📍 Boyd Hill Preserve – Agricultural Room
3010 31st Street S, St. Petersburg, FL 33705

This is more than just a community event — it’s an opportunity to empower young people to use their voices, support one another, and take leadership in conversations surrounding mental health and emotional well-being. We are honored to support youth as they begin taking those first steps toward advocacy, healing, confidence, and brighter futures.

Parents are encouraged to attend alongside their youth so families can learn, grow, and have meaningful conversations together.

Please bring your youth out and help us continue building a community where our young people feel seen, heard, supported, and courageous.

Our youth are facing pressures today that many of us never had to navigate—especially in the digital age.

Mental health is no longer a side conversation, it’s something we must prioritize, protect, and openly support.

Su***de prevention starts with awareness. It starts with recognizing the warning signs—withdrawal, sudden mood changes, drug use ,loss of interest, or expressions of hopelessness—and responding with compassion, not judgment.

Our young people need to know they are seen, heard, and valued.

We also have a responsibility to create safe spaces where youth feel empowered to speak up about what they’re going through. Spaces where they can advocate for themselves and their peers. Spaces that reduce the stigma around asking for help and make mental health resources accessible, relatable, and easy to share.

That’s why events like The Courage Code: Teens Taking Control and many others are so important.

🗓 May 16th
⏰ 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Boyd Hill Preserve – Multipurpose Room

✔️ Handle cyberbullying and peer pressure

This isn’t just another event—it’s a movement toward empowering our youth to choose strength, speak up, and take control of their mental well-being, especially before the summer break.

Let’s continue to break the stigma. Let’s make help feel safe. Let’s show our youth they are never alone.
