"A fire shouldn’t be a partisan issue: Management of fire, mitigation of fire, suppression of fire should not be partisan. I would say that Oregon leadership, all those who are involved, are still in a very reactive posture, and we need to change that. We need to figure out mitigation strategies. We’ve got to get ahead of this."

The latest updates on fires in House District 60.

If you are a contractor and not have been deployed, or have equipment waiting on a contract I encourage you to contact my office ([email protected]) so we can help elevate those concerns with the appropriate partners. We must ensure every available resource is being used to protect Oregon communities and those on the front lines.

At the same time, I want to recognize the extraordinary work being done every day in incredibly difficult conditions. To every firefighter, engine crew, hand crew, incident management team, aviation support member, and volunteer on the front lines: thank you. Your courage, professionalism, and sacrifice are deeply appreciated, and we are grateful for all you are doing to protect lives, homes, and communities across Oregon.

Thank you students, our communities have continued to support each other.

EOS would like to make a little diversion from our norm. We would like to give a shout out to those student athletes out there right now actively on the fire lines saving Oregon rangeland/forests from a horrific summer.

If your student athlete is on a BLM crew, a forestry crew, a member of a rural fire protection district or is just out there saving the family rangeland, leave their name and high school in the comments. Many of our student athletes are giving up their summers with friends and family, instead grabbing a pulaski or a hose.

The attached photo was sent to EOS by Kelsi Skinner, athletic director and coach in Jordan Valley.
