Exciting news! Hermiston broke ground on a new affordable housing development called Liberty Village, which will primarily serve veterans experiencing homelessness in the region.

Once construction is complete, the development will feature 17 homes, a multi-use community space, laundry facilities, an outdoor gathering space, and other amenities.

The deadline for Intermediate Housing Assistance (IHA) for survivors of the 2020 Labor Day wildfires and straight-line winds is June 30. IHA provides temporary rental and utility assistance for survivors who lived in Clackamas, Douglas, Jackson, Klamath, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, or Marion at the time of the wildfires and have a verified loss.

Survivors have until June 30 to apply for the program, which has expanded eligibility, including higher incomes, so more households can get help. OHCS encourages any interested folks to reach out to a local community action agency to find out more and get started on an application.

Earlier this week, the Wilsonville - Local Government celebrated the grand opening of Vuela, a 121-unit mixed use affordable housing development located together with a transit center.

Units are available for those living at 30-80% of the area median income, and 35 units are set aside for those living at or below 30% of the area median income.

In addition to the transit center, amenities on the property include a playground, community center, fitness center, coworking spaces, and much more.

All state-funded housing recovery developments serving communities affected by the 2020 Labor Day wildfires and straight-line winds are now complete, marking a major milestone for hundreds of Oregon families.

$150 million in funds was used to provide critical housing recovery needs in the disasters’ eight most-impacted counties, which included building or rebuilding housing lost. In total, 261 homes and eight developments were built across the state, and funds were distributed for a variety of other support and recovery services.

Two groups in Clackamas County were awarded funds through OHCS’ Planning, Infrastructure, and Economic Revitalization (PIER) program to help with future disaster preparedness and wildfire mitigation.

Clackamas County, Oregon received funds to install permanent generators at three locations for their Canby Community Emergency Sheltering project. Estacada Rural Fire District #69 received PIER funds to create defensible spaces around key community areas.

Survivors of the 2020 Labor Day Disasters can apply for Intermediate Housing Assistance (IHA) until June 30. IHA provides rent and utility assistance for renters who lived in disaster-affected counties at the time of the wildfires.

The program has recently expanded eligibility, including higher income, so if you previously believed you did not qualify, we encourage you to check again.
