🚔 DRUG INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN TWO ARRESTS 🚔

On June 16, 2026, officers with the Salem Police Department conducted a welfare check at a residence in the 1100 block of N. Independence Place. During the investigation, officers located and arrested an individual who was wanted on an active warrant from Clark County.

Information obtained during the investigation led officers to seek and obtain a search warrant for the residence. The warrant was executed with assistance from the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

During the search, officers located suspected methamphetamine, suspected narcotics, ma*****na, drug paraphernalia, digital scales, and fi****ms.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals were arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center:
• Jacob Neideffer, 25, of Salem
• Christi Tharp, 22, of Salem

Both were preliminarily charged with:
▪ Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 5 and Level 6 Felonies)
▪ Possession of a Narcotic Drug (Level 6 Felony)
▪ Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Level 6 Felony)
▪ Possession of Ma*****na (Misdemeanor)
▪ Possession of Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor)

The individual originally contacted during the welfare check was arrested on the outstanding Clark County warrant.

The Salem Police Department would like to thank the Washington County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with the ex*****on of the search warrant.

We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to the Salem High School S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) for their hard work and thoughtful planning of the recent mock drunk driving event.

Programs like this serve as a powerful reminder of the very real consequences that can come from reckless decisions behind the wheel. Operating a vehicle while impaired or driving carelessly doesn’t just put the driver at risk—it endangers passengers, pedestrians, and entire communities.

We are proud to support initiatives that educate and empower students to make safe, responsible choices. Your efforts help save lives.

We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to Salem Middle School for allowing us to be a part of Career Day!

School Resource Officer Pennington and Captain Cauble truly enjoyed their time with the students, sharing information about our department and what a career in law enforcement looks like. It was a great opportunity to connect, answer questions, and hopefully inspire some future members of our profession.

We appreciate the invitation and the opportunity to spend time with such a great group of students. Thank you again, Salem Middle School!
