While Colorado is fortunate to have passed its own Voting Rights Act, the national implications of potential Supreme Court action on the VRA are far-reaching and could allow states to redraw their maps to dilute the voting power of Black, Latino, AAPI, Native American, and Alaska Native communities. What is the potential impact?

30% of the Congressional Black Caucus would potentially lose their seats.

200 state legislative seats across the country held by people of color could be lost.

Undoing the VRA would flip nearly 19 congressional seats from Democrats to safe Republican seats, rigging the map for a Republican majority for years to come.

Energy was high in Salida today! We hit the streets for the No Kings march, standing together for a community that values progress over power!

Moments like today remind us that when we have leaders who listen and a community that acts, there’s nothing we can’t achieve. Thank you to everyone who marched, cheered, and made their voices heard!

As President Trump escalates his attempts to control us, it is on us, the people, to show that we will fight to protect one another and our country. If he believes we will roll over and allow him to take our freedoms, he is mistaken. We are coming together again on March 28 because we know we can overcome this repression when we unite.

Did you know… in Nov 2024 Chaffee County voted for Kamala Harris for President, Brittany Pettersen for District 7 Congressional Representative, Julie McCluskie for District 13 State Representative, Kathryn Green for District 60, and Gina Lucrezi Chaffee County Commissioner? Women received the most votes in all the races they were in!

This coming November you’ll have the opportunity to elect Sophia Gibb (County Clerk and Recorder) and Jolene Ellis (County Treasurer) who were nominated yesterday at the caucus!✅✅
