We are experiencing incredible sadness as one of our residents passed away at Tidal Health on Monday afternoon.

He was a ray of sassiness and loved his people well.

Our residents are grieving his loss and we are all supporting each other during this time.

We will be honoring his memory, by leaving his walker in its place for a bit, allowing our residents to reminisce about all their good memories.

Please keep us all in your thoughts, as this one hits hard.

We aren't ready for summer to end yet, but we are preparing for the upcoming season. We are looking to stock our shelves with dry goods, cleaning supplies and paper products for the winter.

We need:
--Glass cleaner
--Toilet cleaner
--Dish detergent
--Bathroom cleaner (preferably with bleach)
--Laundry detergent (either powder or pods)
--Paper towels
--Toilet paper
--Cleaning sponges
--Fabuloso or similar for mopping
--Hand soap
--Hand sanitizer
--Bar soap and/or body wash

These items can be purchased as a single item or can be purchased in bulk. The brands aren't important.

If you work in an office that is willing to do a drive for us, please let me know and I can provide signage.

We utilize these items daily and appreciate every single donation!

Huge thank you to Kristal and Karen for their generous donations from our Amazon wishlist.

We totally forgot to take a picture but we received Gatorade, pop tarts, fruit cups, tuna kits, a sheet set, curtains, nutragrain bars and hand soap!!

Our wish list is updated!!

We have 2 new residents moving in soon and we have depleted our linens. We currently need everything listed except pillows.

Every new resident gets the following NEW ITEMS on move in day:

~2 pillows (we have plenty)
~twin size sheet sets (currently need-color not important)
~2 pillowcases (running low-color not important)
~twin size comforter (currently need-color not important)
~throw blanket (running low)
~4x6 or 5x7 area rug (completely out)
~bath towel set (2 towels, 2 washcloths, 2 hand towels-color not
important)

Each resident also gets toilet paper, laundry detergent, a laundry bag, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, trash bags, a broom & dustpan, tissues, bottled water, snacks and other items as we have them.

We only accept new items. All linens stay with the resident and they are able to take them with them when they leave. The only items we accept gently used are rugs, and we prefer they be washable.

The wish list makes shopping easy and simply gives an idea of what we are looking for. If you prefer to shop in person, we don't have a preference of color or brand. If there is an item that you prefer to get at the dollar store, we accept those donations as well. Every single donation is used to support current and future residents. Every single donation makes a difference in the life of someone who is working hard to change their situation.

Usually once a year or so, we begin to hear “rumors” from different agencies about Anne Street Village.

Today, we’d like to take the time to talk about the truths of Anne Street Village and not the rumors that seem to continually recirculate for whatever reason.

Anne Street Village has a capacity for 21 residents. We currently have 19, with 2 more approved for move in.

We had 21 until recently, when one person obtained permanent housing and another returned to incarceration for violating probation off site.

As soon as a spot is vacated, we are looking to fill it with a qualified occupant. We are working through an extensive waitlist, but not everyone will qualify. But determining qualification takes time.

We are approving those who are willing to participate in their own success. Those who are tired of their situation and looking to actively participate in making positive choices.

We are NOT an emergency shelter.
We are NOT a place to come and sit.

We are a transitional housing program that has guidelines, criteria for entrance and expectations as other transitional housing programs do.

Will we always get it right? No.
Will every single person successfully obtain housing? No.
Will every person on the waitlist qualify? No.

But so many of our residents are actively working towards their next steps and we are here to support them on their way!

-We have residents working full time.
-We have residents working part-time and looking for additional employment.
-We have residents receiving SSI and looking for part time employment to have enough income to qualify for housing.
-We have residents who are in the final stages before receiving SSI.
-We have residents riding their bikes to work everyday.
-We have many residents actively attending their medical and mental health appointments.
-We have 21 humans navigating their way out of homelessness and are in this program while they obtain the things necessary to qualify for housing.

Anne Street Village is not “a disaster” as I heard today from someone who has never stepped foot at Anne Street.

Anne Street IS a place where 21 people from all walks of life, come to have a safe place to sleep, a place to safely store their belongings, a place to get out of fight or flight mode. A place to get their feet under them and make progress. A place where every known resource is offered for them to take and run with.

And because the cold weather is coming and this rumor seems to pop up during the winter, Anne Street residents all have as many blankets as they need. They all also have heat (and air conditioning for that matter). We would never let anyone be without.

We ask that you share about the work we do. If you hear someone speaking negatively about Anne Street, please have them reach out. I am ALWAYS willing to give tours so people can see for themselves.

The work we do is challenging. However, every decision made is to ensure current and future residents have the best experience possible. We work hard to ensure it.

We are so grateful for the plethora of generous donors who always provide the things we ask for, for without you this work would be impossible.

So thank you to our supporters! We won’t let negativity get us down!
