A huge congratulations to Lovee's Cakes, this year's Small Business of the Year Golden Key Award winner!

Deborah Glanton, owner of Lovee's Cakes in Layton, uses her bakery as a platform to help others by hiring and mentoring individuals with disabilities. Thanks to her guidance and patience, one of her former employees is now thriving in college, and another was just accepted to UVU after learning valuable job and life skills.

These FREE services, offered by the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR), help students with disabilities Explore various career options, gain real-world work experience and develop essential workplace readiness skills.

The transition from school to adulthood is a challenge — especially if your child has a disability. Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) staff and providers offer Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to VR eligible and potentially eligible students with disabilities between 14 and 21 years old.

The Utah State Office of Rehabilitation’s Division of Services of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing works to elevate, unify, and empower the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind Utahns by building a community with full communication access.

With help from DSDHH, Utahns can access services to help in obtaining needed services from federal, state or county programs. The DSDHH job counselors guide Deaf and hard of hearing Utahns in finding and thriving in the workplace. The Technology and Outreach Program provides referral, in-service training and resources to all businesses, private and public agencies throughout the State of Utah. All this and more are available to Utahns in American Sign Language.

Today, more than 400 job seekers attended the Work Ability job fair. This job fair brings people with disabilities together with companies ready to hire. In addition to making important connections, workshops were held for employers looking to strengthen their workforce by recruiting people with disabilities.
