ALRIGHT PARTY PEOPLE. is upon us, and if you haven’t seen my few and far between stories, this will probably be my last event with Chiix & Co. I started Chiix & Co. in 2016 as a passion project and a way to push me to start making art for fun again. I quickly realized I wanted to use the company as a platform for other female artists and makers in efforts to lift each other up and take away some of the burden and scariness of starting a business on their own. We grew to 9 independent artists and makers. We made cool s**t for you beautiful people. You were excited, told all your friends, and many became repeat customers. That’s all we could have ever asked for. I have literally put blood, sweat, and tears into this collective, cause you can’t not when your printing studio is a garage in Salt Lake City in the middle of summer 😅
Last year, I quit my full-time job to pursue freelance design on my own full-time. The plan was to also be able to focus and grow Chiix & Co. I could have never known how quickly my design business was going to take off, and I soon realized I didn’t have enough creative power left to dedicate to Chiix & Co. I wasn’t ready to let my baby go though, so I tried to come up with ways to streamline Chiix and be able to still maintain running both. At the end of the day, I’m still not sure I’m ready to let it go fully yet, but I just know I do need to take a step back from it for now. I will be closing the shop down after Craft Lake City this year. You can still and should shop from all the ladies involved individually, and all their websites will stay up on our site.
Maybe I can turn it into a badass open-source forum and blog where we still focus on highlighting amazing independent artists, have guest spotlights, do business Q&A’s, that would be rad. But for now, as I am only one lady, I just can’t do it all.
I am forever grateful to anyone who ever supported us, told their friends, shared our posts, entered our giveaways, or even just liked our insta posts.
We will have some really great sales this weekend at CLC, so make sure to stop by if you can (It’s at the Utah Fairpark NOT Gallivan Center this year), and let’s party! @ Utah State Fairpark
