Today was our third Utah Democratic Business Caucus coffee meetup, and in the spirit of transparency, I want to be honest about where we are as we continue building this caucus from the ground up. Today it was just Sonny and me in person, while Benyde was there in spirit but had a previous engagement — and that’s okay. Movements, organizations, and communities all start somewhere, and we’re committed to continuing to grow, connect, and keep pounding the pavement.

I’m grateful for everyone who has supported us so far, shared our events, reached out, or expressed interest in what we’re building. We truly believe there is an important place for business voices within the Democratic Party here in Utah, and we’re excited for what’s ahead. It was also great meeting Isaac today, owner of .

As we continue growing, one of our next steps will be launching our Business Spotlight initiative that Sonny has been working on to help highlight and uplift businesses within our community. We’ve also started building a business directory for the caucus that will serve as a resource for our members and help strengthen connections within our network.

We’ll be taking next month off due to the primary election season, but we’ll return in July with a virtual meeting where we’ll introduce our executive committee and continue building momentum for the caucus.
