Thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend for our District 5 State & Local Town Hall on the State of Education with Senator José Menéndez and State Representative Diego Bernal.

As our community navigates school closures and changes through 1882 partnerships, we came together to better understand what these partnerships mean, learn more about education policies at the state level, and ask important questions about the future of our public schools.

We heard from our state and local elected leaders, but most importantly, we heard from our community. We discussed ways residents can stay informed, learn more about how public education is funded, advocate for our neighborhood schools, and continue speaking with their elected representatives.

Thank you to Senator Jose Menéndez, Representative Diego Bernal, our community partners, and everyone who showed up, asked questions, and continues to advocate for our students and public schools. 📚

The City of San Antonio wants to help affected homeowners and is committed to supporting the households that need it most. NHSD is now conducting outreach to assist eligible homeowners with emergency weather-related home repairs. Questions? Call 210-207-6459 or visit SA.gov/NHSD
  
Program Overview  
The Emergency Weather Home Repair Program assists qualifying homeowners with home repairs as a result of the extreme weather event on August 28, 2026.
  
Application Referrals 
Homeowners are encouraged to report damage to 311. The City will conduct an assessment and contact homeowners to guide them through the application intake and eligibility process.  
  
Eligibility Requirements
• Home must be inside San Antonio city limits and be impacted by the severe weather event. Only damage caused by the August 28, 2026 storm will be addressed. 
• Owner must reside in the home and must have a current year Homestead Exemption on the property.  
• Household income must be equal to or less than 80% Area Median Income (AMI). 
• Damage should not be covered through the applicant’s homeowner’s insurance.
• Damage should pose a health, safety or code issue.

We’ll have:
💉 FREE vaccines & microchipping
🩺 Pet resources & supplies
✂️ Help setting up spay/neuter appointments
🐕 And MORE! All while supplies lasts.

Dear Neighbors, check out this FREE real estate education course! A six-session hybrid intro to all things development, from pro-formas to community ownership. LISC San Antonio’s goal is to equip those along the path of potential development with knowledge to advocate and negotiate effectively as the Silver Line project proceeds.
 
The deadline to apply is next Monday.  While LISC is focused on the Silver Line Corridor, their target population includes anyone who lives, works, owns property, or attends church or school along the corridor.

Grateful to have partnered with District 1 Councilwoman Sukh Kaur for our latest Project Marvel Roundtable, focused on affordable housing in the proposed Sports & Entertainment District.

Thank you to everyone who came out, shared their ideas, and helped make this an important conversation about how we can plan for development while keeping San Antonio residents at the center. We also couldn’t have done it without our incredible participants— thank you so much!

We’re looking forward to continuing these conversations and hearing directly from our community about the future of Project Marvel. Stay tuned for our next roundtable, focused on the voices and priorities of San Antonio’s labor community.
