Well… Saturday didn’t exactly go our way. 😆

Congrats to the Windcrest PD on the bowling win. We’ll stick to fighting fires, you can keep the bowling and softball trophies. 🚒🤝🚔 and NO Chief Ellis, we will not compete in the donut 🍩 eating competition. 😂 We would lose in that one too.

Not every rescue involves lights and sirens!🐢 🚒

While on duty today, our crew came across a turtle in the roadway. To keep both the turtle and passing motorists safe, they stopped to carefully assist it back to a nearby pond.

Whether it's responding to emergencies, serving our community, or helping our local wildlife, we're always proud to answer the call.

UPDATE: The tornado warning for our area has been lifted, and we are now ALL CLEAR.

Thank you to everyone who stayed weather aware, followed the warnings, and took the necessary precautions. We appreciate your patience while the storm moved through.

As always, if you come across downed power lines, flooded roadways, or any storm related hazards, please avoid the area and report them to the appropriate authorities.

🚨 Tornado Warning Issued

A tornado warning has been issued for the surrounding area.

If you’re within the warning zone, now is the time to take it seriously.

• Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
• Stay away from windows and exterior doors.
• If you’re driving, don’t try to outrun a tornado. Seek substantial shelter if possible.
• Keep your phone charged and monitor trusted weather sources for updates.

Our first responders are ready, but the best protection starts with making safe decisions now. Please check on your family, neighbors, and anyone who may need assistance.

Stay weather aware, stay safe, and we’ll continue to share updates as they become available.

With heavy rain and flood warnings across the region, the Windcrest Fire Department wants to remind everyone to use extra caution on the roads - both here at home and when traveling through surrounding areas.

☔ Slow down and leave extra distance between vehicles.

🚧 Never drive around barricades.

🌊 If you encounter water over a roadway, don’t risk it. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

📱 Keep an eye on local weather alerts and changing conditions.

Stay safe, stay dry, and make good choices out there. We’d much rather wave at you from the fire truck than come pull you out of your car. 😉

This is just a portion of the fireworks we’ve already confiscated tonight.

While we know everyone wants to celebrate, we ask that you help keep our community safe by leaving the fireworks to the professionals.

Remember:
🎆 What goes up must come down.
🔥 Even small sparks can ignite dry grass, roofs, or other combustible materials.
🚒 One bad decision can quickly become an emergency.

Please do your part to protect your neighbors, our first responders, and our community by refraining from the use of fireworks within the City of Windcrest.

Happy Independence Day and 250th Birthday to America! 🇺🇸🚒

What a great way to celebrate the Fourth of July! Thank you to everyone who came out to line the parade route, wave, cheer, and celebrate with us. It’s always an honor to be part of a community that shows such incredible pride.

A special thank you to the City of Windcrest, the parade organizers, volunteers, public works crews, law enforcement, and all of the participants who helped make today’s event such a success. Events like this take a tremendous amount of teamwork behind the scenes, and we appreciate everyone who made it happen.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday with family and friends. Thank you for letting the members of Windcrest Fire Department be a small part of your Independence Day tradition.
