Notice what fear is telling you, return to what the moment requires, and keep the decision in the hands of your principles.

Listening is only the beginning. Your team also needs to know what you heard, what happens next, and when you’ll come back with an answer.

That follow-through is part of leadership. Even when the answer is no, a clear explanation gives people more to work with than silence.

A full calendar can hide a lack of direction.

Before you carry the same demands into another week, choose the few outcomes that matter most. Decide what needs your attention, what can be delegated, and what needs to stop. Give those decisions a place on your calendar.

Listening is not complete when the conversation ends. It is complete when people understand what happens next.

When someone brings you a concern, a better way to work, or a hard truth:
• Say what you heard.
• Decide what you can act on.
• Explain the next step and when they will hear from you.

That is how teams learn that speaking up is worth the risk.

A decision can make sense in the moment and still need to change.

As leaders, we owe our teams an honest response when the outcome falls short. Acknowledge the impact. Correct what you can. Explain what will change, then follow through so people can see the difference.

Today marks 25 years since September 11. I’m thinking of the people who never came home and the families who have missed them every day since.

I’m also thinking of the first responders who went toward danger and the ordinary people who stopped to help a stranger, even when their own lives were at risk.

Their actions showed us what it means to put others first. We honor their example through the way we lead, serve our communities, and take care of one another.

We will !
