Earlier this month, the Cameron County Master Gardeners hosted a Youth Sustainable Gardening Camp, providing hands-on learning experiences focused on horticulture, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
A special thank you to our generous sponsors: Children's Advocacy Centers of Cameron and Willacy Counties, the San Benito Rotary Club, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service โ Cameron County, and the Law Office of Ricardo Madrigal. Your support helped make this educational experience possible.
Throughout the camp, youth participants explored topics such as plant propagation, plant growth and development, composting, and so much more through engaging, hands-on activities.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Master Gardeners who helped develop the agenda, curriculum, and presentations: Herlinda Farias, Rita Galloway, Susan Kerens, Teresa Malki, Debbie Cox, Alicia Cavazos, and Lionel Lopez. This camp was truly a team effort, with many volunteers stepping up to make it a fun and memorable experience for our youth. If we inadvertently missed anyone, please know that your time, energy, and dedication were greatly appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who helped inspire the next generation of gardeners and environmental stewards!
