A new school year is all about “firsts,” and today was no exception. This morning, Winding Creek Elementary School, which is RCSD’s FIRST two-story school, opened its doors for the FIRST time to its FIRST class of 460 students!

We are so grateful to all of the staff, students, families, and community members who made today special. Whether it’s reading a new chapter book or solving for “x”, we’re excited to experience another year of firsts with all of our RCSD champions!

School starts tomorrow, but these students are already bringing the energy!

Shout out to RCSD Chilton's 8th grade WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) students for helping incoming 6th graders adjust to middle school life. The new students were welcomed with a tour, games, and were able to get answers to their questions straight from their peers.

When asked “Is middle school fun?,” the WEB leaders responded with a loud and proud “Yes!”

Ready to start your journey in education? Stephanie’s been there, and is happy to help!

Come to our Classified Job Fair on July 13 and meet Stephanie Kamaka, Classified Personnel Analyst and RCSD employee of almost 20 years. Stephanie began her career as a Meal Duty Supervisor, Instructional Assistant, and busy parent, who loved how the work fit in with her children's schedules. Now she uses her experience to support Classified staff across RCSD.

Her tip for attendees: be prepared. Apply ahead of time for the opportunity to do an on-the-spot interview, and be sure to bring your resume and letters of recommendation if possible. ✅

Last school year, we partnered with the American Heart Association (AHA) to teach students about heart health, kindness, and lifesaving skills. The results speak for themselves:

3,129 students and families reached with heart-healthy messaging
79 students and families learned Hands-Only CPR
$30,590 raised in lifesaving donations for the American Heart Association
$3,000 earned in givebacks for participating schools

Thank you to our school communities for raising donations to support heart health and families impacted by heart disease and stroke, and to the AHA for teaching students the importance of a healthy heart. ❤️

After almost 16 years of service, we are saying a fond farewell to Susan Plunkett on her last day as RCSD’s Lead Bus Driver. 🚌 💛

We are so grateful to Susan for making her career at RCSD, and for helping countless students receive the safe and reliable transportation they needed for a quality education.
