Pride means something different to everyone, but at its heart, it’s about being seen, being accepted, and celebrating who you are.

This month, we’re coming together through music, community, creativity, and celebration. Whether you're joining us for House of GLIDE, Runway of Pride, or the San Francisco Pride Parade, we’d love to celebrate with you.

Happy Pride Month from GLIDE.

Before serving in the Senate, Cory Booker built his career by working directly alongside communities.
As a Newark City Councilmember, he chose to live in public housing to stay connected to the challenges residents faced every day. When residents of the Garden Spires housing complex were dealing with unsafe conditions and a lack of city response, Sen. Booker spent 10 days living in a tent outside the property to draw attention to the issue and push for change.

Whether as an organizer, attorney, mayor, or senator, his work has focused on making sure people feel seen, heard, and supported.

On Friday, June 5, Sen. Cory Booker joins Dr. Gina Fromer at Glide Memorial Church for a conversation about leadership, community, democracy, and what it means to keep showing up for one another during challenging times.

Pride looks different for everybody. For some it’s fashion. For some it’s freedom. For some it’s finally feeling seen.

Runway of Pride at Glide Memorial Church is bringing all of that together for a night of creativity, community, and self expression in the heart of San Francisco. 🌈

A lot of people put their health on the back burner because life gets heavy. We get it. That’s why we keep showing up and making space for people to check in on themselves, ask questions, and get connected to care without being judged.

You deserve to know what’s going on with your health and have people in your corner while you figure it out. 🧡

Today, our Women’s Center celebrated the graduation of the latest EmpowerHer cohort after completing a 12 week violence and trauma recovery program.

The room was filled with reflection, laughter, and pride as participants decorated colorful butterflies with qualities they saw in themselves, including resilience, generosity, patience, curiosity, friendliness, and presence. They also shared personal accomplishments they were proud of, from becoming less shy and learning to forgive themselves, to finding legal support for their families and embracing motherhood.

Program Coordinator Nikysha Parker-Dalton presented each graduate with a certificate and took time to recognize something special about every woman in the room. As staff served plates of barbecue, graduates cheered one another on and celebrated how far they had come.

One of the most powerful moments of the day was recognizing several women who found housing during their time in the program. Their achievements were met with a well-deserved round of applause from everyone gathered.

Before the celebration ended, Nikysha reminded the graduates that GLIDE will continue to be a place they can turn to for support.

“You have a home and a place here,” she said.
The afternoon was filled with proud smiles, heartfelt conversations, and women celebrating one another's growth, strength, and accomplishments.

Yesterday, the Tenderloin Recreation Playground officially opened, giving children and families in the neighborhood a new space to play, laugh, and spend time together right here in their own community.

You could feel the excitement from the kids the moment our City Officials cut the ribbon alongside children from the Tenderloin community. Spaces like this mean a lot for families in the neighborhood and give young people a place where they can just be kids.

Dr. Gina Fromer was in attendance alongside District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, Supervisor Bilal Mahmood, Assessor-Recorder Joaquín Torres, community partners, and families from the neighborhood to celebrate the opening.

RSVP through the link in our comments or scan the QR code and come be part of this conversation at GLIDE with Sen. Cory Booker and our President & CEO Dr. Gina Fromer.

We’ll be talking about voting rights, community, and what it means to keep showing up for people during difficult times.

A lot of people are feeling frustrated, unheard, or disconnected right now. We wanted to create space for a real conversation about where we are, what people are facing, and how we move forward together.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend everybody. Spend time with your people, get some rest, enjoy the weather, and look out for one another.
