One City One Book: San Francisco Reads is an annual citywide literary event, produced by San Francisco Public Library, that encourages members of the San Francisco community to read the same book at the same time and then discuss it in book groups and at events throughout the City. In other words, we read awesome books and hope you will join us!

But for many East Bay activists the lasting legacy of the Panthers isn't about militancy, but food security and social justice. Groups like Freedom Farmers Marke and Mandela Food Cooperative.

Echoes of social justice programs that the Black Panther Party started resonate within current East Bay food-justice groups.

Black against Empire is the first comprehensive overview and analysis of the history and politics of the Black Panther Party.
