Quality Parenting Initiative

The Quality Parenting Initiative (QPI) is a national child welfare system change initiative of the Youth Law Center.

It is a relationship based approach to foster care, based on the concept that every child needs excellent parenting everyday. It is a relationship based approach to strengthening foster care focusing on the goal that every child and youth in care needs excellent parenting everyday. QPI works to reform child welfare practice and policy to meet that goal by listening to and partnering with those who

are directly impacted -- a network of families, youth, agency leaders, judicial leaders, agency staff, and community organizations committed to developing and sharing results-based solutions, advocating for and implementing policy and practice changes, and changing the culture of child welfare to focus on the goal of excellent parenting. The commitment of local and state leaders, philanthropy and the community has moved the field to address some of the most serious adversity identified by children in the system.
