For more than 60 years, the San Leandro City Junior Golf Championship has helped young golfers discover confidence, sportsmanship, and a love for the game. This year’s tournament at Monarch Bay welcomed players from across Northern California, giving juniors ages 7–18 the chance to compete, grow, and make lasting memories.

From first‑time competitors to future high school, collegiate, and even professional golfers, every participant walks away with lessons in integrity, perseverance, and respect.

Thanks to the City of San Leandro, American Golf Corporation, Monarch Bay Golf Club, and dedicated volunteers, this cherished tradition continues to inspire the next generation. The future of youth golf is bright — and it starts right here in San Leandro. ⛳✨

A greener future starts with small changes! 🌱

Our turf‑reduction project on Washington Ave & Halcyon Dr removed 2,410 sq ft of non‑essential lawn, helping conserve precious drinking water under California’s AB 1572. To enhance the revamped landscape, crews added 82 five‑gallon plants — including Santa Cruz Blue Hibiscus, Bottlebrush Little John, Hidcote English Lavender, Lion’s Tail, Pink Lady Rhaphiolepis, and Bird of Paradise — plus 15 yards of repurposed sycamore mulch to boost soil health.

Smart design, thriving plants, and stronger community resilience. 💧🌼

What an incredible Touch A Truck event this past weekend! 🎉
We welcomed around 1,000 attendees, doubling last year’s turnout, and featured 14 vehicles, including 5 exciting new additions, plus info booths from Rec and the Library. 🚚📚
Kids and families had a wonderful time exploring the vehicles, learning how they work, and meeting the dedicated staff who operate them. A huge thank‑you to our amazing team and to everyone who joined us for a memorable day at the San Leandro Shoreline! 🌟

What an unforgettable summer at Camp Hooty Hoo and Chabot Day Camp! From creative crafts and outdoor adventures to new friendships and joyful moments, our campers brought energy and excitement to every day. We celebrated our final day of camp on Friday, August 7, wrapping up the season with games, smiles, and one last burst of summer spirit.
With our summer camps officially concluded and school now back in session, we wish all our campers a fantastic start to the new year. Until next summer! 🌞✨
