A U.S. Army Apache helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz — and both crew members were safely rescued.

According to reports, a 24-foot autonomous surface vessel known as the Corsair, built by Austin-based Saronic Technologies, located and helped recover the two Army aviators from the waters off Oman. The operation is being described as a first-of-its-kind use of an unmanned surface vessel for a real-world military rescue at sea.

According to U.S. Central Command, U.S. forces disabled a vessel in the Gulf of Oman after it allegedly attempted to violate the U.S. blockade and failed to comply with repeated warnings.

CENTCOM reported that a U.S. aircraft fired a Hellfire missile into the ship’s engine room, stopping the vessel from continuing toward Iran.

2 American service members (possibly Operators from 3d Special Forces Group *Green Beret* are missing. Our guys work in a ton of unfriendly places across Africa and the northern regions of the continent are no exception.
