When parents entrust their children to a school district, they deserve to know when a class includes graphic or sexually explicit material—before their child enrolls, not after they've been exposed to things they cannot unsee.

Following concerns about a dual-enrollment art course offered to Sanger High students (including my own son), I formally requested that this issue be placed on the school board agenda:

* July 20: Written request.
* August 11: Public request during a board meeting.
* August 12: Second written request.

To date, the superintendent and board president have neither acknowledged my requests nor placed this issue on the agenda.

When an elected trustee’s concerns are ignored, the community that trustee represents is silenced too.

The solution is straightforward: Update board policy to ensure dual-enrollment courses offered to minors are reviewed for age-appropriate implementation and that parents receive advance notice when instructional materials include significant mature, graphic, or sexually explicit content.

This would not interfere with college curriculum or academic freedom. It would simply establish clear expectations for transparency, informed parental decisions, and accountability—regardless of who is leading the district.

Our students deserve thoughtful oversight. Parents deserve transparency. And this community deserves to be heard.

Please attend tonight’s school board meeting at 6 p.m. and speak during open forum. Ask the board to place this issue on a future agenda and adopt a clear policy protecting parents’ right to make informed decisions.

If district leadership will not listen to one trustee, let them hear from the community.

The filing period for Sanger Unified School District Trustee is open through next Friday, and all four incumbents have already filed for re-election.

If you’d like to see additional perspectives and strong oversight on the Board, now is the time to get involved.

Some of the important issues I’m currently engaged on include:

• Protecting minor students from sexually explicit content in dual enrollment college courses.
• Ensuring public meetings comply with California’s Brown Act and remain transparent and accessible.
• Seeking accountability for more than $2 million annually designated for music and arts programs and ensuring those funds are used as intended.
• Ensuring the community’s voice isn’t “deleted” from conversations around facilities needs and long term strategic planning.
• Advocating for sustainable district funding for athletic and music programs so families and our community aren’t asked to cover basic educational needs year after year.
• Improving transparency surrounding contracts, compensation, and other public records related to senior district administration.

Healthy governance depends on thoughtful discussion, independent perspectives, and an engaged community.

If you’ve ever considered serving our community, I encourage you to consider filing for Trustee. Four seats are on the ballot this year, and this is a pivotal opportunity to help shape the future of our schools.

If running isn’t the right fit for you, your voice still matters. Reach out to your elected trustee. Ask where they stand on these issues. Attend board meetings. Share your perspective. Hold all of us accountable. An informed and engaged community leads to better decisions for our students.

I’ve never looked back on our decision to move to Sanger. This community has partnered with us in raising our children. Together, parents, educators, and neighbors play an important role in shaping not just successful students, but good humans.

Fresno Unified enrollment declines as the districts that surround it grow. The variation is due to housing availability, school performance and competition.

I was elected to advance a pro-student, pro-parent, and pro-teacher agenda at Sanger Unified. However, some within district leadership appear intent on concentrating authority in the hands of appointed administrators rather than preserving the oversight and accountability that come with elected representation.

The board’s purview on facilities is about to be “deleted.”

I’m leaning toward a no vote. It’s important you ask your board member where they stand.
