A federal court granted emergency relief blocking USPS from implementing its newly finalized mail ballot rule for the November 2026 midterm elections.

Yesterday, a federal court agreed that we are likely to succeed in our claims:
✅USPS lacks authority to issue the final rule.
✅The final rule unconstitutionally imposes election requirements on the states.
This is a fluid situation. Stay alert!

Our island’s very own Holly Smith, city council member, past Mayor, and past President of the Florida League of Cities will be a speaker along with John Lai, President of the Sanibel- Captiva Chamber of Commerce.

Two of the four School Board of Lee County races on the ballot were decided in the primary election on Aug. 18, with the remaining two races headed to run-offs in the general election in November.
