C5’s Stakeholder Spotlight series aims to highlight our local stakeholders and their efforts to support the coalition’s mission of supporting transportation across California’s Central Coast.

Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance works to implement sustainable energy initiatives that support a healthy environment and greater self-reliance for the region by advancing the use of clean, efficient and renewable local resources! VCREA is a long-standing stakeholder of C5 and member of the Electric Drive 805 coalition, a group of partners that work to expand equitable access to plug-in EVs on the Central Coast. In February 2023, C5 and VCREA partnered to launch the Power Your Future Scholarship, which provides local electricians with the opportunity to become EVITP-certified at no cost. C5 is excited to continue collaborating with VCREA to promote alternative transportation and cleaner skies throughout the Central Coast region!

E-mobility is on the rise across the nation, and C5 Stakeholders are leading efforts to increase e-mobility options across the Central Coast. In 2021, the City of Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara BCycle partnered to launch an Electric Bike Share Pilot Program that included the installation of 500 bike docks to serve a fleet of around 250 e-bikes. Santa Barbara BCycle is a great option for e-biking around the city, whether it be to work, to run errands, or simply for fun!

The Vehicle Technolgies Office has announced the rebranding of Clean Cities to Clean Cities and Communities! Clean Cities and Communities is a U.S. Department of Energy (U.S. DOE) partnership to advance clean transportation nationwide.

The new name gives a more accurate representation of the full area that Clean Cities and Communities coalitions serve, and the new logo represents how coalitions work at the intersection where communities, the environment, and technology come together to support clean transportation efforts.
