The late Harry Mayo did the honors by cutting a surf leash to officially celebrate the grand opening of the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum !
Four decades later, the museum continues to celebrate the people, stories, and surf culture that helped shape Santa Cruz. 🌊🏄
🎉 Now it’s time to celebrate 40 years! Join us on September 26 for the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum’s 40th Anniversary Celebration and help us honor four decades of local surf history, community, and stoke!

🌎🎲 Climate Action + Community + Fun! 🌱💚
On September 1, we brought Climate Action Game Day to Poet’s Park in the Beach Flats neighborhood! Instead of traditional tabling, neighbors connected with local climate initiatives through games, hands-on activities, and plenty of fun.
Around 35–40 community members joined us for activities led by the City’s Climate Action Program, Community Gardens, Urban Forestry, Master Recyclers, Save Our Shores, Green Exchange, and Ecology Action. 🌳♻️🌊
With Spanish-speaking team members available throughout the event, we worked to make every activity welcoming and accessible so more of our community could participate, learn, and connect.
The response was amazing, with many attendees telling us they’d love to see more events like this in the future! 💚
Thank you to our community, staff, and partners who helped make the day such a success. Here’s to making climate action engaging, accessible, and FUN! 🌎✨

From cooking and crafts to fitness, enrichment, and beyond—we’re looking for creative program ideas that bring people together, teach new skills, and add something special to our community.
