🏃‍♂️ Running for a Greater Cause! 🔥

Last week, the Santa Cruz County Probation Department proudly participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics—one of the most meaningful traditions in law enforcement.

Our team joined athletes and fellow public safety partners in celebration of courage, inclusion, and the human spirit. Every step helps support year-round sports training and competition for Special Olympics athletes with intellectual disabilities, free of charge.

We are proud of our staff for showing up in support of a cause that brings people together and celebrates the abilities and achievements of Special Olympics athletes.

To every Special Olympics athlete: you inspire us, and you are worth every step.

Santa Cruz County Probation Department staff participated in the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Activity League (SAL) Golf Tournament, with our team proudly sponsored by the Probation Officers Association and Rocha Brothers Farms LLC.

The Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Activity League (SAL) supports youth across Santa Cruz County through sports, mentorship, leadership development, and recreational programs that create positive opportunities while building confidence, connection, and life skills. Funds raised through this event directly support these programs and help expand access for local youth.

Thank you to the organizers, sponsors, and all participants for making this event a success and for continuing to invest in the future of our community. ⛳️

Behind every bouquet was a young person taking time to show love and appreciation for their mom this Mother’s Day weekend. 💐

Youth at Juvenile Hall created beautiful bouquets and heartfelt cards that were shared during visiting hours — a reminder that connection, love, and family matter.

Thank you to our dedicated staff who helped make these meaningful moments possible through their compassion and support each day.

Wishing all mothers and mother figures a Happy Mother’s Day filled with love, joy, and cherished memories. 💜 Feliz Día de las Madres.

Happy National Correctional Officers Week!

This week, we’re proud to spotlight our incredible Juvenile Hall staff — the dedicated professionals who show up every single day for our youth.

Juvenile corrections officers do far more than maintain safety and security. They serve as mentors, role models, and a steady presence for young people during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. From de-escalating crises to coordinating programming, overseeing daily operations, and building trust, their impact can truly change a young person’s trajectory.

Today, we celebrated them with a well-deserved ice cream social — a small token of appreciation for their big hearts and tireless commitment.

To every officer on our team: your work is seen, your dedication matters, and our community is stronger because of you. Thank you.

Last night, we gathered in front of the Santa Cruz County Courthouse for a powerful Candlelight Vigil — and the light we held together meant everything.

Hosted by the Santa Cruz County District Attorney’s Office and the Victim Witness Advocacy Program, this evening was a reminder that no one should have to grieve alone. We stood side by side in solidarity with every family who has lost a loved one to crime — honoring their memory, acknowledging their pain, and reaffirming our commitment to justice and healing in our community.

A special moment of the evening was the beautiful live music performed by local artist Chas Crowder, whose playing moved us all deeply. Thank you, Chas, for sharing your talent and your heart with our community that night.

To those who attended, thank you for showing up. To those carrying this grief — we see you, we stand with you, and you are not alone.
