Gerard's House Build a Back Pack Drive 🎒✏️📚
At Gerard's House, we walk alongside grieving children and families as they process the death or separation of a loved one. This school season, we want to lift the burden of meeting basic necessities so our families can focus on healing, connection, and gentle transitions.

When a child or family is navigating the heavy waves of grief, even the most basic everyday tasks can feel overwhelming. Preparing for a new school year, buying supplies, organizing clothes, and facing new routines is a major milestone that can feel incredibly difficult during a time of transition.

This summer, we are supporting our families by providing a Bilingual Back to School Workshop for caregivers of grieving children to provide resources and tools to communicate with their children, teachers and supportive adults about change and transition after death and separation. Having the right tools for school lets children feel prepared and supported during a difficult time.

How can you help?
We are collecting school supplies listed on the flyer to provide to grieving children in our community. Every single item reminds them that they do not have to carry their grief alone.

Want to contribute in another way? A $25 donation to Gerard's House can fill one new backpack with all of the supplies needed!

SFCC will be closed this Friday for the Juneteenth holiday. "Also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the date in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that the Civil War had ended and that all enslaved individuals were finally free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, it is a federal holiday dedicated to celebrating African American freedom, history, resilience, and achievement."

14 years ago, DACA was born out of courage and determination.
When everyone said it was impossible, it was immigrant youth who refused to be ignored and made the impossible happen.
Today, we're back — in the halls of Congress, in the streets, and with our community — to demand what is long overdue: a pathway to citizenship for all.
