"While speaking at the TPepin’s Hospitality Centre, DeSantis was in the midst of introducing Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds, when he was quickly interrupted by Tampa Bay Democrat Ben Braver, who is currently running for Florida State House District 65 against Karen Gonzalez-Pittman.

“Thank you so much, Ron DeSantis,” shouted Braver from the audience. “You showed true leadership stealing $10 million from poor kids and putting it into your politically motivated PACs!”

While being escorted from the ballroom, Braver also slammed Donalds for his support of data centers. “And thank you Data Center Donalds, for taking $6 million from data center companies! You show where your true values lie! $6 million from data center companies! Thank you, Data Center Donalds! Thank you, Ron DeSantis for stealing $10 million from sick kids!”"

"I have to tell you honestly, I read this report again last night; it's really outrageous," said Sam Rabin, a former state and federal prosecutor and a longtime criminal defense attorney. "I mean, this is nothing more than a 'sweep this whole thing under the rug.' This was not a serious effort to get to the bottom of this."

"This grand jury concluded that the money was stolen," Rabin said. "They used the word misappropriated, but that's another way of saying the money was stolen. Once they have identified that a crime occurred, they had an obligation to pursue that and find the people that were culpable, that were responsible. And they completely abdicated that responsibility."

Legal experts say the grand jury failed to pursue accountability in a case they say involved stolen taxpayer funds.

This article from WSLR on Angie Nixon's surprise visit on Wednesday highlights the hard truth that Sarasota County was not Team Angie for the primary. Hopefully the turnout on Wednesday (standing room only) shows that our community is united to get this fierce advocate for everyday Floridians to Washington DC!

Nixon's upset win has invigorated young voters—even in one of her worst performing districts.

I'm so proud of the young folks in this community. They turned out so many votes for the primary, and I know they'll be a big help for the midterms.

Let's also recognize the lives of these kids. High school seniors, prepping for ACT/SATs, applying to colleges, doing their homework, working jobs and internships, family obligations, and they still made the time to knock on doors and make calls. And look at the times they're growing up in.
