Founded by the community to serve the community, Resurrection House is grateful to Gulf Coast Community Foundation and our many dedicated volunteers who make it possible to help the homeless in Sarasota find essential service and hope for a better life.

Giving can start with a single act — but it doesn’t have to end there. 🩷

Four Gulf Coast donors each found their own way to Resurrection House,a day center for our unhoused neighbors. They didn’t know one another, but Gulf Coast discovered a thread that connected them — and what happened next opened the door to something bigger.✨

We all have a duty to show love and compassion to the poor.

"Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered." —Proverbs 21:13

The church has a duty to serve the poor. Everyone has a part to play. What's yours?

Learn more about how the City of Sarasota, Government homeless outreach team (HOT) works in our community alongside partners such as Resurrection House.

Shellie Legarsky, the City's Homeless Response Coordinator, joined ABC7 Sarasota - WWSB yesterday to discuss the City's comprehensive approach to addressing homelessness in our community.

Shellie explained how the City's civilian caseworkers collaborate with the Sarasota Police Department to provide a range of services to homeless individuals, connecting them with the help they need to get back on their feet.

In addition, Shellie expressed that the kindest way to respond to an unsheltered person is to reach out to the Homeless Outreach Team rather than giving money, food, or supplies. If an individual feels their needs have been met while living on the street, it is much less likely that they will seek the help they need to eventually become housed. Those who want to take a more active role in addressing homelessness are encouraged to donate or volunteer their time to local charitable organizations, like Resurrection House, that coordinate with the City.

For more information or to get in contact with the Homeless Outreach Team, email [email protected] or call 941-263-6302.

Church of the Redeemer Sarasota VBS kids showed how BIG their hearts are by making lunch and providing food for our homeless clients this week. Daily deliveries of nutritious food including chicken salad, fruit cups, sandwiches, snack packs, and more helped feed between 75-100 each day. Our clients were very grateful for these special menu items and saw first hand how much the Redeemer community cares!
