For tonight’s fire department meeting, 12 firefighters toured the new mill at Friona North 2. The tour provided valuable insight into the facility’s operations, with Assistant Manager Austin Wilson sharing important information about the site. Our firefighters also offered feedback and safety recommendations to help strengthen emergency preparedness and response efforts. Thank you Austin for having us!

A cluster of severe thunderstorms continue to move southeastward across western Kansas. These storms do have a history of producing wind gusts 60-70+ mph and large hail. Move indoors and keep away from windows should storms approach you area.

We have added another tanker to our fleet!

The City of Satanta and Dudley Township partnered to purchase this tanker, which will replace the Ford tanker currently stationed at the north station. The Mack tanker will be relocated to the north station, while Tanker 52 (T52) will remain housed in town.

This new addition is a 2017 Freightliner equipped with a 4,000-gallon water tank, a Cummins engine, and an Allison automatic transmission. We are excited to add this reliable apparatus to our fleet and continue enhancing our ability to serve and protect our community.

As of right now, all Haskell County firefighters have returned from the fires! Please keep those that are still out battling fires in your prayers. As well as everyone affected by these fires.
