S U P P L Y M E E T S D E M A N D ✅

It has been a busy few months at the Logistics Readiness Squadron as we all have been preparing for the official change over from the Airman Battle Uniforms (ABU) to the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP).

Supply Airmen, like Staff Sgt. Tafari Plummer and Master Sgt. Denise Hopkins, have played a key role in distributing new uniform items to members of our wing and our geographically separated units to ensure mission readiness.

REMEMBER: April 1st marks the end of the ABU era and OCPs become the uniform of the day, EVERY DAY‼️

Make sure you check out AFI 36-2903 to ensure proper wear of our new uniform. 😄 #AirGuard #OCP #newuniform #LRS

#HonorThem

March 25 is National Medal of Honor Day. This date was chosen because the first Medal of Honor was presented on March 25, 1863, during the Civil War. This day allows us to take the time to honor those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

There have been 60 Medals of Honor presented to Air Force and Army Air Corps members from World War I to the current day. We honor those who went above and beyond the call of duty today and everyday.

Meet Tech. Sgt. Rainey Cannady, an aircrew flight equipment specialist assigned to the 165th Operations Group. She has served in the 165th Airlift Wing for 11 years now and said she enjoys being in a career-field that plays such an important role in the overall base mission.

Aircrew flight equipment #Airmen have an extremely important job because they are responsible for ensuring our aircrew is not only equipped with any type of safety gear they made need for various situations while flying a mission, but also for making sure that all safety equipment will function perfectly in an emergency situation.

Some of the equipment she inspects on a regularly-scheduled basis are pilot helmets, night-vision goggles, parachutes and emergency oxygen masks.

Black History Month Highlight #ThrowbackThursday

✈️Command Chief Master Sgt. Betty Morgan (Ret.)

“Having one “first to achieve” accomplishment is not easy to obtain - but having four is remarkable. Retired Command Chief Master Sgt. Betty L. G. Morgan made history for the Georgia Air National Guard in April 1997 when she became the first African-American, and the first female command chief for the165th Airlift Wing, Savannah, Ga. Then again, in January 2003, she became the first African-American and first female command chief for the Georgia Air National Guard, Marietta, Ga.”

Today marks the 29th day since the first round of COVID-19 vaccinations were given to members of the 165th Airlift Wing here in Savannah, Ga.

Dozens of #Airmen from throughout the wing, including the Wing Staff Leadership team, returned to the 165th Medical Group Feb. 17, 2021 to receive their second shot of the vaccine series now that their 28-day waiting period has passed.

U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Tiffany Sneeze ,165th MDG, and Tech. Sgt. James Koch, from the 116th Air Control Wing Medical Group, were the aerospace medics administering the vaccines today.

“For some of us working in the medical group, providing this new vaccine to our members is something we see as exciting since it is the first vaccine of its kind,” said Koch.

“The first Covid-19 shots were given Jan. 21 here at the 165th AW and since then the medical group has administered over 500 vaccinations,” said Sneeze.

The wing commander, Col. Chris Dunlap, along with his wing staff team including vice commander, Col. David Smith, the chief of staff, Col. Ryan Hampton, & the executive officer, 1st. Lt. Alex Blanke, all received their second vaccination along side 165th AW Airmen and employees.

T O T A L F O R C E E X C E L L E N C E 🌟

Congratulations to Tech. Sgt. Brittany Hopkins who was coined by Maj. Gen. Thomas from the Air Force Recruiting Service for her hard work and accomplishments in implementing the Total Force Integration (TFI) recruitment initiative in the state of Georgia.

She now serves as an Air National Guard recruiter here in the Savannah area as well as part-time in a new office in the Augusta area working alongside an active-duty recruiting team.

“I definitely plan to educate the active-duty recruiters on our culture and I hope to learn as much as I can about theirs,” Hopkins said.

“Ultimately the recruiter wants the best possible option for their applicant. Some applicants need the chance to get away from their current situation which is when I refer them to an active-duty recruiter. Some applicants want to concentrate on furthering their education full time, while still being a part of the military. That’s where the ANG benefits them.”

(Read more here: https://www.recruiting.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/2422300/total-force-recruiting-takes-big-step-as-air-force-air-national-guard-co-locate/)

Total Force recruiting allows applicants to find the best fit for their lives and allows them to get education on the different ways to serve in the Air Force, be it full time or part time.

Words can not describe the atmosphere during the fly-over at Georgia Southern this weekend. My family has strong ties to military and we love this country. We are blessed. But with tears in my eyes and chills on my arms at the conclusion of the fly-over my 14 year old son looked at me and said “I want to fly planes like that”. Thank you 165 Airlift Wing for protecting our country and blessing my family. #GATA
Thank you for your service and thank you guys for putting on an awesome show at Georgia Southern today!!! 💙💛
