Constituted within the 29th Engineer Regiment:
The 95th Engineer Company (Clearance) traces its lineage to the 29th Engineer Regiment, and was originally constituted in May 1917 in the National Army. Throughout much of World War I, the company supported targeting needs of field artillery in Langres, France, and provided collateral intelligence to troops on the ground1. Following participation in
World War I, the 29th Engineers were demobilized from July to September of 1919 at Camp Upton, New York, and at Camp Humphreys, Virginia. The Regiment was reconstituted on July 14, 1923 in the Regular Army as the 29th Engineer Battalion. At that time, it was consolidated with the 17th Engineer Battalion, which had also been activated in September 1921 at Camp Humphreys. The Company would be inactivated in July of 1933 at Washington, D.C. Topography and Intelligence Support Throughout the Pacific:
The Company later moved to the west coast and was activated in January 1939 at Portland, Oregon only to be disbanded in September of that year. It was then reconstituted in December 1940, as part of the Regular Army as Company C, 29th Engineer Battalion. The following year, in November 1941, it was reorganized as Company C, 29th Engineer Topographic Battalion. The Company earned participation credit in World War II for the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, and during this time it was reorganized on June 20th, 1944 as the 2771st Engineer Base Reproduction Company and was the primary topographic resource for troops in the Pacific Theater2. One of the unit’s greatest wartime accomplishments was the mapping of the Aleutian Island Chain in Alaska3. In June of 1947, the 2771st was redesignated as the 95th Engineer Base Reproduction Company. During this time, it was awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation with a streamer embroidered Pacific Area 1953-1954. Shortly thereafter, it was reorganized and redesignated in March 1954 as the 95th Engineer Company. As part of the 29th Engineer Topographic Battalion, the 95th Engineer Company compiled thousands of aerial photos to create highly detailed maps of the Central Pacific. Their efforts enabled American forces to conduct many important operations on these small islands4. The Company would earn two more Meritorious Unit Citations, embroidered Pacific Area 1967-1968 and Pacific Area 1968-1972. The 95th was inactivated inactivated on 15 September 1972 at Ford Island, Hawaii. Reactivation and the War on Terror:
The 95th Engineer Company was activated on October 16, 2007 at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii as part of the 65th Engineer Battalion, in preparation for a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was at this point that the Company took on the nickname “Wolfpack.” Soldiers of the 95th Engineer Company conducted route clearance, base deconstruction, and Iraqi Army training missions from December 2008-December 2009, earning campaign credits for Iraqi Surge and Iraqi Sovereignty. The Company was also awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation embroidered Iraq 2009 for their contributions to the campaign. The following year, the 95th Engineer Company deployed to Camp Leatherneck, Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from August 2011-August 2012. During this deployment, the Company was credited with campaign participation in Transition I. The Company was part of a multi-national task force conducting Route Clearance for British and Georgian forces, as well as American Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines.
