We love to highlight events going on in our area! Get over to Wayward Lane Brewing for Pints with Purpose, a fundraiser for The Schoharie River Center.

Schoharie River Center (SRC) is a nonprofit dedicated to environmental education, science, media arts, cultural heritage, and traditional crafts in the Schoharie Creek and Mohawk River watersheds of Central New York.

Live music from a local band, playing approximately 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Film screenings showcasing selections from the Mayfly Film Festival, SRC’s traveling short‑film festival focused on environmental and stewardship themes.

Join Dana Stern and Milly Roberts down at the creek at The Hummingbird Ball on Saturday afternoon for a connective group singing experience. Together, we’ll sing songs to and with the river—taught by ear and open to all voices, no experience needed. Through the weaving of harmony, movement, meditation, and accessible vocal improv, we’ll explore singing as a way to reconnect—with ourselves, each other, and the Earth.

Singing is a birthright, and one of our oldest technologies for surfacing what’s been buried: grief, joy, vulnerability, prayer, wildness. Come as you are, take what you need, and offer what you can, the water guide the way.

Saturday morning yoga in the apple orchard with . This gentle all-levels class includes calming breath work, soothing stretches, and rejuvenating poses. The session concludes with a guided meditation and sound bath.

Alison is a native New Yorker who loves to share her passion for mindfulness through movement, and has been teaching people of all ages since 2016. She is thrilled to return to The Root and co-create collective movement, consciousness, and gratitude. See you in the trees!

Through her poetic lyricism, ethereal melodies, and dynamic compositions, Aviva explores deep emotional dichotomies, q***r love, identity, heritage, and the idea that “a better world is possible.” Aviva loves genre-blending, weaving her folk music roots with world, indie rock, Klezmer, and house music influences.

Aviva is the co-founder of Tone Shift Collective, which uplifts and connects women and gender-diverse musicians and producers in NYC and beyond by hosting listening parties, live showcases, and networking events.

Combo Chimbita formed in 2016 as a loose combination of friends, many of whom had played together in other groups, all of whom were products of the Colombian diaspora who ended up as first generation New Yorkers making their way in the city’s fertile music scene.

Whether it is the individual musicianship of the band, an evolving and intricate interplay of instrumentation that manages to be both laser-focused as well as expansive and psychedelic, often in the space of a single song — or the shamanic intensity of Oliveros’s performance, always theatrical and fierce to the utmost, Combo Chimbita is forging their own unique musical path, one that is well worth following.
