Links for Liam As most of you know, despite efforts from L.A. It was a long battle with SCID, one of the most severe of a group of diseases called Primary Immune Disease (PI).

Please join the Whitlow Family and the Jeffrey Modell Foundation in raising money towards newborn screening and awareness for children with an underlying condition known as Primary Immune Deficiency Disease. Children’s Hospital and Phoenix Children’s Hospital, our son Liam Whitlow, died on September 30th, 2005 at almost two years of age. This disease is more commonly called “The Bubble Boy Disease

”. Liam could have had a better chance of survival if there had been newborn screening for Primary Immune Disease. Newborn Screening and Public Awareness are of the utmost importance in treating PI and a wide variety of other diseases. More comprehensive newborn screening is a very important cause! Newborn Screening for Primary Immune Disease was passed in Washington D.C.; however, many of the states are slow to adopt the program, and Jeffrey Modell Foundation still needs help with public awareness of PID.
