Thank you all for supporting our Sông2Sea 2026 Year of the Horse merch fundraiser and helping us raise $3,043. After 26 years of incarceration and hardship, Tuan is finally free in Vietnam! Your donations will support Tuan’s resettlement and reunification with his family.

Unfortunately, Tuan’s story is not an exceptional one, but one of many that make up the violent history of US immigration policy. The US military destabilizes foreign countries, bringing in migrants to be exploited as cheap labor, while ICE acts as a domestic arm of US imperialism, expelling them once they’re no longer deemed useful.

We encourage you to continue donating to support Tuan and his family with resettlement during this time of transition!

Come join Sông2Sea in our public study for 2026!

In this study series focusing on Vietnam’s history from the 1920s through post–World War II, we will explore Vietnam’s history and its place within global movements for socialism and national liberation.

This series consists of:
Four sessions focused on laying historical groundwork and building a shared foundation, featuring presentations on key historical events, figures, and political theories and concepts.
Three sessions for synthesizing insights, making connections to our present-day struggles for peace and justice, and building relationships with one another.

One final celebration, to reflect on what we have learned and continue building community together.

About the “Bring Tuan Home” campaign: Almost a year ago, ICE deported Tuan, a Vietnamese refugee and Washington resident, to South Sudan. A federal judge ruled the deportation illegal, but Tuan is still there. Please support us in meeting Tuan’s essential needs while detained and securing his safe return to Vietnam.

Sông2Sea is thrilled to announce our Year of the Fire Horse merch fundraiser! 🐎

We are featuring illustrations from our popular Year of the Horse calendar on a limited-edition long-sleeve shirt and three vinyl sticker designs. The fundraiser ends Tuesday May 26, 2026 at 11:59 PM.

Our merch uses the following sayings that reflects the Fire Horse’s qualities:
🔸“Ngựa hay không sợ đường dài” or “A capable horse is not afraid of the long road.”
🔸“Một con ngựa đau, cả tàu bỏ cỏ” or “When one horse is sick, the entire herd stops eating.”
🔸“Kiên trì” or “perseverance.”

These sayings remind us that we need perseverance, resilience, and unity to reach a just and equitable world.

We will be having a raffle at our upcoming shareback event, with prizes from our very own Sông2Sea members and local Seattle artists! Prize options will be available for our in-person and online attendees. All proceeds will go towards unexploded ordnance (UXO) removal efforts in Vietnam.

For raffle entry, attendees can donate $5 for a single entry ticket or $20 for a 5 ticket bundle. In-person attendees can make their donations at the Sông2Sea table. Online attendees will have the donation link posted in the Zoom chat.

We’ve just come back from our pilgrimage to Vietnam, where we spent the past two weeks deepening our political and cultural education. We learned about and visited sites connected to Vietnam’s long struggle for national liberation, independence, and reunification. At the start of our trip, we asked some members to share what they were excited to learn and experience during our time there. Here’s what they had to say!
