PCOAmerica

PCOAmerica PCO is an organization of compassionate people who are empowering African migrants in our community through capacity building, advocacy & collaboration.

What is PCOAMERICA’s unique point of difference? Africans for Africans – PCO is an organization of compassionate and resilient individuals, each with our own unique perspective and experience of conflict and displacement, who are authentically empowering our communities through community development and cultural citizenship. PCOAMERICA has the ability to:
• mobilize African communities across Wash

ington state to celebrate African diversity and inspire cultural citizenship.
• collaborate with each other and with government, non-government, business and individuals to identify opportunities and solve problems that affect African communities within Washington State.
• reach into these African communities to create awareness, educate and create pathways for our people to access a better quality of life.
• provide authentic feedback to influence government policy and community services for capacity building and addressing social barriers. PCOAMERICA’s programs work across the full spectrum of community and economic development in African communities. Drawing on the ancient African philosophy of Ubuntu, meaning “the quality of being human.” Ubuntu manifests itself through various human acts of community, clearly visible in social, political, and economic situations, as well as among family. It is expressed in the African saying “Ubuntu ngumtu ngabanye abantu” (“A person is a person through other people”). These include:
• Capacity Building & Advocacy
• Community Engagement & Cultural Identity
• Community Education & Health

Emmanuel G.V. Dolo is the Founder and Executive Director of the Population Caring Organization (PCO) in Ghana and Liberia, and a cofounder and founding Executive Director of Population Caring Organization in Washington State (otherwise known as PCOAMERICA).
