City of Sedalia to Observe Labor Day

The City of Sedalia will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

Weekly trash pickup for the week of September 7, 2026, will follow the normal collection schedule. The Materials Management Site at 27882 Highway "U" will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026.

City offices, including the Materials Management Site, will re-open for normal business hours on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Intersection Closure Extension
E. 17th Street at S. Lamine Avenue
Tuesday, September 8, 2026 through Wednesday, September 9, 2026

Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and continuing until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the intersection of E. 17th Street at S. Lamine Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Heavy equipment and workers will be in the area working on a stormwater improvement project. Residents needing access to their driveways will need to coordinate with staff on site. Travelers in the area are advised to find an alternate route to their destination. This work is weather dependent and inclement weather may result in the work being rescheduled to a later date.

Sidewalk Rehabilitation and Replacement Project to Begin in the Area of S. Center Avenue to S. Emmet Avenue from E. 4th Street to E. 6th Street -- Tuesday, September 8, 2026

This project is being funding in part by a State of Missouri Community Block Grant (CDBG). The grant, when combined with matching City funds, will result in the construction of and repair of ADA compliant sidewalks, curbs and gutters.

Beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Public Works crews will begin removal work on the south side of E. 6th Street from S. Center Avenue to S. Emmet Avenue. Following the removal work, the contractor, Epic Concrete Construction, Inc., will begin the installation of the new sidewalk. Heavy equipment and workers will be in the area. This work is weather dependent and inclement weather may result in the work being rescheduled to a later date.
