The First Week of Classes is Off to a Great Start!

The first two days of classes at the Street Reach Community Resource & Stabilization Center have gone incredibly well, and we couldn't be more encouraged.

Yesterday's Men's and Women's Bible Studies sparked meaningful conversations, thoughtful questions, and a genuine excitement to learn more. It was inspiring to see participants engaging with Scripture, sharing openly, and supporting one another as they grow in faith and understanding.

Today's Recovery Class was a tremendous success as we explored the question:

"Is Recovery Really in the Bible?"

Together, we discussed:
• Healthy Boundaries
• Creating Safe Spaces for healing and growth
• Step 1 – Powerlessness
• Exposing Darkness and bringing struggles into the light

The conversations were honest, challenging, and encouraging. Participants engaged deeply with Scripture and recovery principles, asking great questions and demonstrating a willingness to grow, learn, and change.

This is exactly why these classes exist—not simply to provide information, but to help people build a foundation for lasting stability, recovery, and restoration.

We're excited for what comes next:
📖 Thursday: Our first Life Skills Class
💙 Friday: Recovery Class Day 2

We can't wait to see what God continues to do through these opportunities.

🧡 Help Us Bless Our Volunteers

At Street Reach, volunteers are the hands and feet behind nearly everything we do.

They prepare spaces. Serve meals. Wash laundry. Sit with people in the middle of a crisis. Clean showers. Organize donations. Stay late during shelter nights. Pray with people. Encourage people. Show up again and again — often quietly, without recognition, because the work matters more than the applause.

"Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." — Matthew 25:40

Because of people who chose to serve, Street Reach was able to provide:
🏠 1,892 Resource Center visits
🚿 927 showers
🧺 378 loads of laundry
🛏️ 900 safe shelter bed nights
And thousands of meals, supplies, hygiene items, and moments of hope.

This mission moves forward because people show up. We would love to bless our volunteers with small appreciation gift cards — $10–$25 is the perfect range — as a simple, tangible way to say: your time, your compassion, and your consistency matter more than you know.

We are accepting:
☕ Coffee gift cards
🍽️ Restaurant gift cards
⛽ Gas cards
🛒 Grocery, Walmart, or Target gift cards
💳 Visa or Mastercard gift cards

Gift cards can be dropped off during Resource Center hours or mailed to Street Reach of Johnston County NC at 1425 S Po***ck St. #188 Selma, NC 27576

You can also support our volunteers by writing an encouragement card, donating snacks or drinks for the team, or simply praying for the people who faithfully serve this mission each week.

Thank you Her Haven Of Light for caring and loving people in their most difficult moments. You are so right, situations like this one are happening everyday right here in Johnston County. Our hearts break for those struggling. Please support nonprofits like Her Haven as they work to be a light in the darkness to our community ❤️

🏠 We have a client who has been living in a shed for the past year without running water and using a bucket as a restroom.

‼️ If you think situations like this don’t exist right here in Johnston County, they do more often than people realize. While our county continues to grow rapidly, many individuals and families are still facing severe housing insecurity, lack of basic utilities, and unsafe living conditions. Johnston County continues to see families struggling with poverty, housing costs, and limited affordable housing resources.

✨This is why organizations like Her Haven of Light continue to fight every day to connect people with resources, shelter, and hope. No one should have to live without access to basic human necessities.

🫶🏼Please continue praying, donating, volunteering, and sharing resources. You never truly know what someone is going through behind closed doors or in this case, without one at all.
