Shelby Lions Football and Cheerleading update:

Due to safety concerns related to COVID-19, Shelby Parks & Recreation will not offer youth flag or tackle football, as well as cheerleading. While we are disappointed, the safety and wellbeing of our players, coaches, parents and staff will always be a top priority. This decision was based on guidance from both the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services in conjunction with the Governorโ€™s Phase 2 Executive Order, as well as the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
It is our hope that the situation will improve, and youth football and cheerleading returning in the spring of 2021. Please keep posted for updates on our website, page or call the City Parks offices at 704-484-6811.
Also note: If you have already paid your fee for 2020 you have 2 options. You may request a full refund, or apply your payment to the 2021 season.

I found this glove on the fence at the Arky field if anyone knows who it belongs to .
I recommend the maintenance crew needs to do daily checks in all the bathroom facilities. This door fell on my 6 year old granddaughter yesterday, while her grandfather was waiting outside the door. He called the park's number and informed someone that the door had fell, but no one came to the scene while they were still at the park. So, considering the safety for the children, parents, and grandparents that frequently visit this park, is this lack of concern for the maintenance of your facilities a reflection of management's attitude towards the responsibility and pride in maintening a safe environment. A daily walkthrough could prevent major injuries. BEWARE parents and grandparents, do not let your child go to the bathroom by themselves at the City Park. Can I get an Amen...
