VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Are you a notary or a lawyer? We are hosting a Wills for Heroes Event on October 17 and need volunteers to help make the event a success. Wills for Heroes is a program under the auspices of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA), supported by the PBA Young Lawyers Division, the PBA Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, and the PBA Pro Bono Services staff. The PBA Wills for Heroes program organizes WFH events in Pennsylvania. The PBA provides free basic estate planning for first responders and military veterans and their spouses. Programs are staffed by both attorney and non-attorney volunteers and are conveniently offered to heroes at convenient community sites.

WEEKLY TRAINING - SOVFC Volunteers were out tonight getting reps in around our community. The Engine crew was tasked with different scenarios at properties in Sheppton, Oneida and Brandonville. These scenarios allowed responders to practice hose stretches and other skills at actual locations and then discussed placement, water supply and alarm cards.

Congratulations go out to Fire District 26 Ryan Twp Fire/Rescue for hosting a successful Schuylkill County Firefighters Convention over the last week! All of the events held were top notch and showed how much time and planning went into every detail. The Convention wrapped up yesterday with the Convention Parade that traveled through Barnesville. SOVFC participated with the Tanker and Squad and both brought home Second Place Awards in their respective categories.

TRAINING UPDATE - Monday night training took SOVFC Volunteers to Ryan Township to participate in the Schuylkill County Firefighters Convention Training Night. Ryan Twp. Fire brought in Got Big Water to provide an evening of rural water movement for tight locations.

Sunday morning, members joined a crew from Nuremberg-Weston Vol. Fire Company to participate in a mine safety seminar.

The Engine stopped by the Push the Rock Sports Camp being hosted by the River Mountain Chapel yesterday. The surprise visit allowed all attendees to check out our equipment and ask questions about what we do. Thank you for the invite and the delicious lunch!
