Ronald Township Fire Department

At 10:29pm monday March 11th your Ronald Township firefighters were dispatched to a chimney/structure fire in the 8000 block of Mill St in the village of Palo. RTFD arrived at the building which was previously the Palo Community school that had a fire in the ceiling/roof in the boiler room. We requested Ionia Department of Public Safety, Sheridan Fire Department and Orleans Township Fire Department. Ronald personnel set a ladder inside the boiler room to access the high ceiling and personnel accessed the roof above the fire. The smoke stack, rubber roof, foam board as well the roof decking were removed to expose and extinguish any fire or extension. The fire was completely extinguished and all units have now cleared the scene. Thank you to our mutual aid for responding although we did not end up needing them. Also thanks to Ionia County Central Dispatch and Sheridan Fire for the pictures. Stay safe out there!!
