Today I officially filed for re-election to serve as your City Councilwoman for Ward 3.

It’s the honor of a lifetime to represent the people of Ward 3 and I hope to continue to do so. I enjoy hearing your concerns and working to find a solution. Whether it was in the classroom or on the City Council, I’ve always enjoyed helping others and serving my community. That passion has driven me continue to file to serve another term, having so many people support me in the past few weeks has energized me even more. Your kind words, promises of donations, and helping as a volunteer on my re-election have humbled me. Words can’t express how truly blessed and grateful I am for all the support.

At a time where there’s so much division in politics, I want to continue to be the voice of reason with no political affiliation. I have the experience and energy to continue to make Sherwood all it can be. As your City Council representative, I will continue to answer constituent emails, letters, texts and phone calls because it is something I truly enjoy.

I raised my family in Sherwood.

Boy - do we love to celebrate! Bill and I dressed up last year for the Shadows of Sherwood Halloween Party. We also love when my kids, grandkids and great grandkids are all at my house during the holidays. We love games and puzzles. In these pictures, the great grands were paired with two adults, an aunt and a grown cousin to see who could put together the puzzle the fastest.

It made me start thinking about memories of Sherwood. It is a wonderful place to raise a family. I’m grateful my children had the opportunity to grow up here. I’m thankful I was able to help improve our parks, work in our public education system, and do it all with my family.

I helped my church, First United Methodist, collect stuffed animals and donate to first responders. Previously we made a donation to the Sherwood Police Department, we were also able to make a donation to the Sherwood Fire Department!

These stuffed animals will be given to children during difficult or stressful situations, in the hopes that they will provide a small source of comfort when they need it most.

I spent the morning with my friends in the Rotary Club of Sherwood cleaning up the Sherwood Veterans Memorial. We weeded, cleaned up the landscaping, added American flags, and placed rocks that Sherwood 5th grade students painted and decorated specifically for this memorial.

This memorial is special to me because several of my family members have served. At this memorial, there is a brick to represent my husband, Bill’s time in the U.S. Navy. If you have a chance, I hope you will stop by and see the Sherwood Veterans Memorial. Thank you to all of our veterans!

Proud to do this with my church!

Proud to do this with my church!

We want to thank Council Member Beverly Williams and First United Methodist Church for their generous donation of stuffed animals to the Sherwood Police Department! These stuffed animals will be given to children during difficult or stressful situations, providing a small source of comfort when they need it most. Thank you for helping us make a positive difference in our community! 💙🧸

My family has called Sherwood home for over 50 years and we raised our family here. My father and husband served in the military and I have a grandson in the Army today. Because of this love of country, I began a tradition over 15 years ago where I give an American Flag to every home on my street so they can place it on their mailbox. When you drive down my street, you will see over 80 flags waving from Memorial Day through July 4th and on to Labor Day.

My friend and fellow council member, Marina, has joined me on this tradition for several years. However, we had the best helper we’ve ever had today, my great grandson. 🇺🇸

I love working for the people of Sherwood and I seek your support in this re-election, so that I may continue to do more.

Thank you for all the support from Sherwood residents in Ward 3 these past 12 years. I am honored and pleased to have been your voice and appreciate you trusting me to listen to your concerns. Residents call, text,or email me on a regular basis with concerns and/or questions. Everyone of those calls has been answered and often times, as a former educator, I like to take a fieldtrip to the home (or the area that is in question) so I can visualize the concern and better understand the questions. I am honored to work with city staff and other entities to address your questions.

Today I attended the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce Legislative Luncheon. As always, it was great to visit with our Sherwood business community and representatives in the legislature over a good meal.

This is one of my favorite times of the year. This past week, I joined the Rotary Club of Sherwood for the 4th Grade Summer Reading Project. It is a project I started 14 years ago. We visit each 4th grade class in Sherwood and let the students pick out a book of their choice. Reading is a passion of mine and as a former educator, I hope it inspires our students to continue reading into adulthood.
