I attended the Robo Rally at Wilkes Barre Area High-school last weekend and saw some amazing things.

I met some incredible young people with working plans to get into various stem careers after graduating high school school. The robots these kids built and coded from scratch showcased their bright potential. I hope to see more STEM jobs oppurtunies in Luzerne County that give our youngest and brightest more reasons to stay here in Luzerne County.

"Run for Something endorses Emily Singh for Luzerne County Council
Changing The Face of Local Politics in Pennsylvania

May 15, 2025: Emily Singh is proud to receive the endorsement of Run for Something (RFS), the groundbreaking organization that recruits and supports strong voices in the next generation of progressive leadership.

“We are so proud to announce our May endorsement class because these candidates aren’t just running for local office, they are building the future of the Democratic Party from the ground up,” said Amanda Litman, Co-Founder and President of Run for Something. “At a time when our democracy is under threat and vulnerable communities are demanding real change, we need bold and fearless leaders stepping up at every level. These are the candidates that will build the bench and the movement that will define our future.”

“At every level of government, we need leaders who reflect the urgency and values of this moment," said Johanna Silva Waki, Executive Director of Run for Something. “Our endorsees understand the stakes, and they’re rising up to meet this moment with urgency, empathy, and action. They’re not only responding to the challenges of today—they’re shaping what’s next for their communities.”

Run for Something’s May 2025 Endorsement Class Includes:

49% identify as people of color
29.4% identify as LGBTQIA+
49% identify as women
17.6% are Gen Z
Our candidates in this class represent 16 states.

As we continue to build the progressive bench from the bottom up, we are excited to support and amplify more talented, young progressives already making a difference at the state and local levels.

The endorsement process includes an extensive internal review with background checks, a detailed application, and insight from local state experts.

Amanda Litman and Ross Morales Rocketto launched RFS on Jan. 20, 2017, with a simple premise: help young diverse progressives to run for down-ballot races in order to build a bench for the future. RFS aims to lower the barriers to entry for these candidates by helping them with organization building, a robust community, and access to the trainings needed to be successful. So far, over 200,000 young people from across the country have signed up to run and gained access to RFS resources.

Run for Something recruits and supports talented, passionate young people who advocate for progressive values now and for the next 30 years, with the ultimate goal of building a progressive bench.
