Scott Tipton for Justice of the Peace

Scott Tipton for Justice of the Peace Hi! My name is Scott Tipton and I am running for Justice of the Peace in Show Low Precinct 5.

I believe my training as a police officer and constable, as well as my experience as a business owner, landlord and entrepreneur uniquely qualify me for this job

I was sworn in as the Justice of the Peace, Navajo County Precinct 5, on Tuesday, December 20 at the Holbrook County Complex. Most of the recently elected officials were also in attendance to be sworn in as well. (Incoming Constable John Roy, my replacement, is right beside me) The Show Low Justice Clerks also showed up, and Judge Patterson swore in Judges Pro Tem Atencio and Hendrickson. I also attended a wonderful retirement party for outgoing judge Shirley Patterson, where we were able to get a quick pic with retired judge Steve Price! I am excited (and a little nervous) to start my term as Justice of the Peace and Show Low City Magistrate! Thank you to all who supported me through my campaign last year!

It looks like most of the votes are in and it’s staying at 67% of the vote for me and 33% for my opponent. I want to thank everyone who helped in my campaign, from putting signs in their yard and sending words of encouragement to those who donated financially. I especially want to thank Jamie, my wonderful wife, who backed me through this campaign, who kept my feet on the ground, and who rallied family and friends to walk in the 4th of July parade without me when I was sick. I want to thank my opponent, Dawn Wilson, for running a clean campaign and not slinging any mud! Good luck in your future endeavors.
When I take office in January 2023, I pledge to do my best, to get the education I need, and be a fair and unbiased Justice of the Peace. I will listen to and serve my constituents in precinct 5 and never forget where my judicial authority comes from: you, the people of precinct 5. Thank you and I am honored to have this sacred trust as Justice of the Peace.

EARLY BALLOTS ARE OUT! If you are an early voter, get those ballots in by July 29th. If you like to vote in person (like me), please vote for me, Scott Tipton, for Show Low Justice of the Peace on August 2nd! Here are a few reasons I think I would make a good Justice of the Peace:

-15 + years law enforcement experience including juvenile detention, Police Officer for Tempe PD, Private Investigator, Process Server and Constable.
-Past Member and Treasurer of the Arizona Constables Association, a state-wide association for ALL constables in Arizona.
-Past member, vice-chair and chairman of the state regulatory Constable Ethics Standards and Training Board (CESTB). To be a member of this board, you need to be appointed by the Arizona governor. I served on this board for 4 years and would hear and decide, with my other board members, the outcomes of constable complaints from across the state.
-Eagle Scout and Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster of the Linden Valley Troop.
-Graduate from ASU with a B.A. in Asian Languages.
-Graduate of the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy (ALEA) Class 310.
-Married 32 years to my beautiful and supportive wife Jamie.
-Raised 3 great kids right here in Show Low, Az.
I am a Conservative. I believe in limited government and low taxes. I believe in the sanctity of the family and traditional family values. I believe in standing for the pledge and kneeling before God. I believe in the sanctity of the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights as it is written.
If elected as Show Low Justice of the Peace, I will be fair and unbiased and give everyone who appears before me a fair shake and their day in court. All cases, hearings and trials will be conducted in a professional manner. Victims will be made whole. Offenders will get justice. The rights of the citizens will be upheld according to the laws and constitution of this great nation. I will be tough but fair.

Please vote for me, Scott Tipton, for Show Low Justice of the Peace on August 2!

We are all the products and sum of decisions made in our lives. This date, July 14, has twofold meaning to me. The first is the decision I made to ask my lovely wife, Jamie, to marry me. Together we have been through 32 years of joy and pain, raised 3 great kids, lost a child, been through financial and spiritual hardship, moved several times, built 3 houses together, and have spent half our married lives in Show Low, Arizona.
The second significant meaning this date has for me: July 14, 2000 is when I was involved in a deadly force encounter while working for the Tempe Police Department. It was a domestic violence dispute, and when I got between the suspect and the victim, the suspect opened fire. During the exchange of gunfire, I was shot 7 times. I was severely injured, but relied on my training and was able to stop my attacker. The suspect later died, and I was too injured to return to a job I loved. I received the Medal of Valor and the Tempe Cross for my actions on that day. My daughter posted a video of the shooting below.
I believe being committed to a spouse, raising children and being devoted to your family develops character. The commitment to wear a badge and keep a community safe also shows character. As your Show Low Justice of the Peace, I will bring the qualities of honesty, integrity, and fairness to the bench. I will humbly and diligently serve the citizens of Show Low Justice Court Precinct 5 to the best of my ability.

Please vote for me, Scott Tipton, for Show Low Justice of the Peace on August 2nd.
