Chay Peterson is a long time resident of Silverado and hardworking community volunteer who has a vision for the future of the SMRPD and knows how to do it! Chay Peterson was elected by the canyon voters on November 6th, 2012 and served 4 years on the Silverado-Modjeska Recreation, Parks & Open Space District. Chay believes the rural canyons are unique and should be cherished,
protected and nouris
hed. She welcomes new land owners but wants all to respect the beautiful natural surroundings we live in. Chay is committed to the mission of the SMRPD, "to promote community wellbeing through programs and activities that protect, preserve and
enrich the canyon's heritage, open space and unique way of life." Chay Peterson is a 30 year resident of Silverado, a wife and mother of
two, who also has experience in business, child development,
organization leadership, canyon fundraising, event coordination, and
volunteer relief efforts, within the canyon walls and beyond. Chay is a "friend" to all three canyon communities; Silverado, Williams
& Modjeska and cherishes the canyon's heritage, wildland resources, and "Rustic vibe." She is an avid hiker and understands the community need for open space and trails for all users, and is committed to seeking new
opportunities for the canyon people. For 12 years Chay was a lead teacher at the Silverado Children's
Center, under the SMRPD, and is responsible for much of the center's
recent success and also its survival. Chay has experience in board
activities and responsibilities, and wishes to serve the
Silverado-Modjeska Recreation and Parks District for years to come.
