Please join is in welcoming our newest assistant principal, Ms. Ariana Rodriguez! She started working at Simi Valley High School this week.

ARIANA RODRIGUEZ
Assistant Principal
Simi Valley High School

Ariana Rodriguez comes to Simi Valley Schools from San Diego, where she grew up. She has held the roles of assistant principal and counselor at several secondary schools in San Diego, Palmdale and Arizona, and also teaches at the university level.

Coming to Simi Valley High School, Ms. Rodriguez hopes to make a meaningful impact on students by addressing the diverse needs of all learners. She envisions closing the achievement gap through data-driven decision making.

“I have a passion for identifying and working toward closing opportunity and achievement gaps and working to ensure holistic post-secondary success for all students,” she said.

Ms. Rodriguez holds Bachelor degrees in Anthropology and Psychology from Georgetown University (Washington D.C.), a Master’s degree in Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from the University of San Diego, and an Administrative Services Credential through the Riverside County Office of Education.

When not working, she nurtures her passions for aviation science and weather forecasting. She and her husband love hiking, exploring new beaches and outdoor areas. And then there is food. If they aren’t seeking out new restaurants to try, they are experimenting in the kitchen together.

HAPPY BACK TO SCHOOL DAY FOR SIMI VALLEY SCHOOLS! With 15,000 students coming to one of our 26 schools today (two schools have different start dates--Simi Institute for Careers and Education and Apollo High School) there were abundant nerves and excitement to be found among all. By all accounts, things went very well as students settled into their classrooms that teachers spent the last few days prepping and decorating. Three schools (Big Springs, Hollow Hills and Township elementary schools) opened to new furniture, fresh paint and other improvements, ending our eight-year classroom renovation project where almost every learning space in SVUSD received facelifts (thanks to the Measure X Bond and our community's support). Workers continued their progress on Simi Valley High School's new multipurpose building. About 50 new teachers and other credentialed employees (counselors, nurses, therapists, etc...) started their classroom assignments today. In all it was a successful and busy first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year!
