It was an honor to join Governor Mikie Sherrill, Speaker Craig J. Coughlin, and many of my Assembly colleagues to see a trio of bills signed into law today designed to address the growing youth mental health crisis and strengthen protections for young people online.

I am proud to sponsor A4013, which became law today, that directs the state Social Media Research Center to research and make recommendations regarding addictive social media behaviors among children and adolescents and examine strategies to reduce those behaviors.

We have a responsibility to keep children safe in our state, and these bills take an important step to protect young people online.

Big things are happening in Montgomery! It was great to join my LD-16 colleagues Assemblyman Roy Freiman and Senator Andrew Zwicker and Somerset County Commissioner Liz Graner for, not one, but two, ribbon cuttings in Montgomery Township today. Nevius Boulevard and Village Drive are now open, which means residents will have easy access to some of the new businesses and housing in town.

Special thanks to Montgomery Township Mayor Neena Singh, Committeeman Dennis Ahn, Committeeman Douglas Herring, and all the Montgomery Township and Department of Transportation staff who put in the work to make these projects possible.

Flood Watch is ON for LD16.

From now through 8PM Monday, our region is under a prolonged Flood Watch as repeated heavy rain bands move across Central Jersey. With fully saturated ground, rising waterways, and more storms inbound, conditions can shift quickly. Flash flooding, roadway washouts, and hazardous travel are all possible.

On top of that, power outages continue across parts of LD16, and crews are working in active storm conditions to restore service. If you’re without power, report it directly to your utility as it’s the fastest way to get your outage logged and prioritized. And remember: stay far back from downed wires. Every wire should be treated as live.

⚠️ What to do now

• Check official alerts for sudden changes
• Plan safe travel routes if you must be on the road

🔒 Safety First, LD16
Charge your devices. Avoid flooded roads as even shallow water can sweep a car. Keep an eye on neighbors who may need help, especially seniors or anyone with medical needs. This is a long-duration watch, and conditions may worsen before they improve.

I was in Trenton working late into the night on the state budget because serving the people of our district is always my first priority. This budget strengthens property tax relief through STAY NJ and a fully funded ANCHOR program, expands the child tax credit, and delivers direct investment for the first responders, families, and community projects that keep the 16th District strong.

Every line in this budget reflects the real needs and priorities of the residents I’m honored to serve. It’s the result of collaboration, careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and a deep commitment to making sure every New Jersey family has the support and opportunity they deserve.

This legislation is about protecting New Jersey families and their household budgets. For too long, taxpayers have quietly absorbed the hidden costs created by for‑profit companies operating inside our federal detention system.

This bill finally shifts that burden off of New Jersey families and onto the corporations that profit from these services. And the revenue doesn’t disappear into bureaucracy, it goes straight into food security, housing, recreation, job training, and youth mentorship programs that strengthen our communities and give families real relief. This is accountability, it’s fairness, and it’s how we make sure New Jersey taxpayers aren’t left holding the bag.

With dangerously high temperatures expected over the next few days, I encourage everyone to take precautions to stay safe during the extreme heat.

If you need relief from the heat, our district has cooling centers available throughout Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, and Somerset counties.

Call 211 or visit NJ 211 for assistance.

Please take care of yourselves and each other, and stay safe.

Happy Juneteenth! Recently, I was honored to join Lt. Governor Dale Caldwell and member of the Somerset County Board of Commissioners and Montgomery Township Committee at the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum for the unvailing of a new historic marker at the Mount Zion AME Chruch in Skillman. This church is one of the latest additions to the NJ Black Heritage Trail which highlights Black History Sites across New Jersey. It was inspiring to hear from the team of dedicated activists and volunteers working so hard to make sure these stories of struggle, triumph, and freedom get their rightful place in New Jersey's history.
