These findings by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor validate what we have been saying for six years: St. Tammany has a tax structure problem that is not efficiently serving the needs of our citizens.

Our community pays more than enough in taxes to cover essential services. We have been and will continue to meet to examine our tax structure and determine a fiscally efficient, mutually beneficial path forward for our community.

A new report from the Louisiana State Legislative Auditor's Office looks at the budget deficit in St. Tammany Parish Government's general fund, as well as its overall tax structure. Here's what they see as the issues.

**UPDATE** Fire is now completely contained!

We are continuing to monitor the fire in the Pearl River area near Chris Kennedy Road.

Crews are actively keeping it away from homes and infrastructure. Fires like this can’t simply be put out with water, they are managed by creating fire breaks and letting them burn out safely. With no rain in the forecast, it may continue to smolder for several days, and crews will remain on site.

The good news: no injuries and no property damage have been reported.

Current information is being provided by St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District #7 Thank you to the dedicated firefighters and emergency personnel working to protect our community!!

🔥 Woods Fire Update - 7:42pm - 4/11/26 🔥

We are pleased to report that conditions have improved enough to begin releasing some of our mutual aid resources from the scene. Forestry crews have plowed a containment line around the fire and continue to work around the perimeter. Decreasing winds have significantly reduced the potential for rapid spread.

This does not mean our work is complete. Fire personnel will remain on scene and in the surrounding area to continue monitoring conditions and will reposition resources as needed. St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 continues to monitor the situation from above with their drone.

At the time of this update, an estimated 150 acres have burned. No homes, outbuildings, or other structures were damaged, and most importantly, there have been no injuries.

Please note that this fire will continue to burn and smolder for several days within that containment; however, it will remain under continuous monitoring and we are prepared to act if necessary.

Additional updates will be provided if necessary.
