The latest update from nyseg.. they have replaced numerous poles that were knocked down by the wind throughout our area but cannot lift crews to replace lines due to the sustained winds. No time estimated yet as to when power will be restored. It's going to be a long, chilly night. We ask that everyone check on their elderly neighbors in the a.m..

Power is out for the entire village and surrounding neighborhoods. Due to the sustained winds overnight, it is unlikely power will be restored until early morning hours. If you have power lines down near you, call the Cheektowaga Police non emergency 686-3501 and they will contact nyseg. If the lines are sparking, call 911. Never approach downed lines. STAY SAFE EVERYONE! We will post updates as we hear.

The Erie County Department of Health is changing its COVID-19 diagnostic testing criteria. ECDOH will now offer tests to county residents who are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or who have been in close contact with a COVID-19 positive person and is under quarantine. These tests are free to county residents and do not require a doctor’s referral. However, residents need to have an appointment. They can call 716-858-2929 to make an appointment.

This little, lost kitty has been hanging around Roland Street for the past several weeks. If anyone recognizes him and knows the owner, please message me. We would like to get them reunited before the snow flies!

The Village will be hosting its annual Halloween parade on October 31st. A change in tradition due to COVID19, the parade will begin at 6pm from St. Andrew's Church on Crocker & Reiman and travel to Village Hall, where we will be doing a "Trunk or Treat" in the parking lot. We ask that everyone wear their masks and maintain social distance from other families throughout the event. House to house trick or treating will be allowed until 8pm. If residents want to give out treats but are uncomfortable due to the pandemic exposure, you can bring your candy to Village Hall and we can distribute it for you. Or, bring your car and join in the trunk or treating with us! Safety is a top priority along with the kids having fun!!

The Town of Cheektowaga will be slip lining their main sanitary on William Street this Friday, July 31st. Sloan residents living on William, Grattan, Lehigh, Celina, Mann and Strawn will be affected. The process takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, and we ask that you refrain from doing laundry, running a dishwasher or lengthy showers that day. Minimize your sewage use to prevent any backups! It will be different for Cheektowaga Town residents so check their website or direct calls to them.
