BC5FD is aware of the large column of smoke present just North of the SWISD High School Campus. This fire is located in the City of San Antonio, and SAFD is currently working to resolve the situation.

2025 Bexar County 5 National Night Out!🚒
This fire prevention week our firefighters spent time with the community and spread awareness on the importance of having a plan for fire safety. Speak with your families on exit plans and meeting locations in case of emergencies. Thank you everyone for coming out!🔥

To honor our fallen brothers and sisters who had given their lives on this tragic day, Bexar County 5 firefighters participated in the San Antonio Memorial Climb. Or department and many others come together in remembrance to climb 110 floors as tribute. The sacrifice and bravery of the fallen firefighters, police officers and EMS personnel will never be forgotten. Thank you

Did you know: the unique colors on ESD5 Firefighters’ helmets/shields represent their diverse roles and expertise? It’s a tradition dating back to the 1800s. The Color represents your “rank” within the brotherhood. Our lowest rank, “Probationary firefighter,” starts with an Orange shield. It’s not until you make it past your one-year probationary period (among many other requirements) that you receive your black shield and earn the right to be called a “Firefighter”.
