With Program Presenter Ray Rosser, assisted by Joy Rosser, we will recollect the history of the original and present Courthouses of Fayette County, Tennessee and some of the characters who walked the historic halls. Saturday , March 17th proved to be a lovely Spring morning on the Ames Plantation, perfect for fellowship, education and exploring our history, Mr. Jamie Evans gave an exciting presentation on cemeteries located on the Plantation. Mr. Paul Martin demonstrated the use of GPR technology and the use of cadaver dogs in the location of old grave sites. Guests were escorted on a tour of the cemetery located at Manor House and also a slave cemetery located off the beaten path. Check out the photos from this great meeting.

The Annual Meeting of the Fayette County Historical Society will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017. We will first gather at the Somerville City Cemetery for a Walking Tour of the Cemetery. The Tour will begin promptly at 9:30am. After the Tour we will proceed to the First Presbyterian Church for further discussion of the Tour, a brief Business Meeting and lunch. Lunch will be catered by "The Market" and will be $15 per person. Dues are $10 per person or $10 per family. Lunch reservations must be received NO LATER than Monday, June 12, 2017. Fees for lunch and dues should be sent to Fayette County Historical Society P.O. Box 304 Somerville, TN 38068. Please join us for this very interesting event! We look forward to seeing you there!
