Kenbe fèm is a Haitian Creole phrase that means stand firm. Hold on. Hang in there. Don't let go.
In Haiti, kenbe fèm has meant enduring wave after wave of crisis. And at St. Boniface Hospital, it means showing up for the people we serve, no matter what.
In 2025, our team at St. Boniface Hospital delivered 3,077 babies, performed 3,433 surgeries, and welcomed more than 102,000 outpatient visits—all while navigating a humanitarian crisis that has pushed Haiti's health system to the brink. Our doors never closed, and not one service was cut.
That is what kenbe fèm looks like.
Throughout Fèt St. Boniface month, we’re going to show you all the ways our staff and patients have embodied this important phrase. We hope you'll read along, share what moves you, and feel the full weight of what we've built together.
